Asia

Wanted to share with everyone what has been going on at the Roman Empire and it is all revolving around Asia. For the next month or so we will be learning so much about this far off place. I have marked in red the areas that will be having an impact on our lives. There are four areas marked. 2 in China, 1 in Cambodia and 1 in Thailand.
It all started one Sunday at church. Sitting watching the announcements, A missions trip! I look at Raul, he looks at me. I have been trying to go on a missions trip for years but nothing has worked out yet. I think to myself, This is it! I'm going. As the announcement continue I hear, Men only. I look at Raul, he looks at me and I think to myself, This is it! Raul's going. Raul has never had a desire to go on a trip, but during that
announcement God touch his heart. He will be going to the killing fields of Cambodia and to Bangkok Thailand. August 26-Sept 7, 2012. We had 1 month to come up with $3500 for the trip. How were we going to do this???? We were not going to do it, God was. Of course we didn't just sit around doing nothing. Raul wrote letters, We sent emails and we made and sold chocolate covered pretzels. We still have on week left and we only have $100.00 left. We knew God would provide for Raul to go. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to everyone who has helped!!!! If you could not give financially we are still in need of your prayers.
During all this I learned about some exchange students that needed a host home for 11 days. I started praying about it and over a couple days everyone in the family was on board with bringing 2 Chinese kids into our home. We have a 12 yr old boy from Chengdu, China and a 14 yr old girl from Zhanjiang, China. They are coming over to the US to study English and learn about our culture. EF is not a christian organization but we thought this would be great missions opportunity for our family. So our "kids" will be here July 18-29th, 2012. We are getting ready for them and praying for them along with their family.

Faith is also doing some art work to go along with our Asia themed month :)
She found this long dried grass and turned it into some beautiful chop sticks. She harvested the grass(weed), cut to size, shaped, cleaned, polished and decorated them. Beautiful.

Stay tuned for updates....
